CEH: Reconnaissance Techniques
This course covers the very first step of ethical hacking: finding out everything you can about a target before you touch it. You will learn footprinting and OSINT, which means digging up public information like domain names, employee names, and email addresses. You'll also learn how to scan networks to find live systems and open ports, and how to enumerate a target to pull out more detail, like usernames and shared folders. This is the same recon work real penetration testers do before any attack. By the end, you'll know how to gather information the way an attacker would, so you can help organizations see what they are exposing to the outside world. This course is for anyone continuing the CEH path after the overview course, and it's hands-on with real tools like Nmap and WHOIS lookups.
- Gather public information about a target using footprinting techniques
- Use OSINT (open-source intelligence) to find data on people, companies, and websites
- Search DNS records, WHOIS data, and social media for useful clues
- Perform network scanning to find live hosts, open ports, and running services
